Welcome to Examify's community-driven content development! We invite medical students, doctors, educators, and healthcare professionals to contribute exam questions, feedback, corrections, and annotations to help improve the platform for everyone.

This guide explains how to submit high-quality content and what to expect.

1. What You Can Submit

1.1 New Exam Questions

Original exam-style questions designed to test medical knowledge:

• Single Best Answer (SBA): 5-option multiple choice questions with one best answer
• Extended Matching Questions (EMQ): 4-10 options with 2-4 associated scenarios
• True/False: Binary questions with clear true or false answers
• Multiple-Choice: Any other exam-style format

1.2 Question Corrections

Identify and fix errors in existing Examify questions:

• Factual Errors: Incorrect medical information, outdated guidelines, or wrong answers
• Grammar and Clarity: Spelling mistakes, ambiguous wording, or confusing phrasing
• Format Issues: Malformatted text, missing punctuation, or layout problems
• Evidence Updates: Point out when questions contradict current guidelines (with reference)

1.3 Explanations and Annotations

Add depth and educational value:

• Detailed Explanations: Expand on why the correct answer is right and why others are wrong
• Clinical Pearls: Exam tips, mnemonics, or commonly-tested concepts
• Reference Citations: Links to guidelines, textbooks, or evidence-based sources
• Differential Diagnosis Notes: Help for complex or ambiguous questions
• Related Content Links: Suggestions for related questions or study materials

1.4 Feedback and Suggestions

Help us improve the platform:

• Difficulty Rating Feedback: "This question is too easy/hard for the target audience"
• Exam Relevance: "This topic isn't covered in the real exam" or "This is heavily tested"
• Curriculum Alignment: "This doesn't match our institutional curriculum"
• Feature Requests: Suggestions for new question types, analytics, or learning tools
• General Suggestions: Any other ideas to make Examify better

2. Submission Standards and Requirements

2.1 Medical and Factual Standards

Accuracy

• All medical information must be evidence-based and aligned with current clinical guidelines
• Reference current guidelines (NICE, RCGP, MRCS curriculum, specialty-specific guidelines)
• Avoid outdated information or discredited approaches
• Clearly distinguish between consensus opinion and controversial practices
• For diagnostic/treatment questions, answers should reflect current best practice in your region

Scope and Complexity

• Questions should match the target exam level (postgraduate entrance exam, specialty exam, etc.)
• Content should be clinically relevant and commonly tested
• Avoid extremely obscure topics unless they're core to the exam syllabus
• Ensure questions test meaningful clinical knowledge, not trivia

Conflict of Interest

• Do not submit questions that promote a specific commercial product or pharmaceutical company
• Avoid promotional or biased language
• If you have a financial interest in the topic (e.g., you work for a pharmaceutical company), disclose it

2.2 Question Format and Clarity Standards

Single Best Answer (SBA) Questions

Format Requirements:

• One clear clinical scenario (2-4 sentences)
• One specific question stem (what is being asked?)
• Exactly 5 answer options (A, B, C, D, E)
• Only ONE correct answer
• Plausible distractors (not obviously wrong)
• No overlapping or ambiguous options

Extended Matching Questions (EMQ)

Format Requirements:

• A list of 4-10 options (diagnoses, drugs, procedures, etc.)
• 2-4 clinical scenarios to match to the options
• Each option can be used once, more than once, or not at all
• Clear instructions on whether options are reusable
• No overlap between correct answers within a set

True/False Questions

Format Requirements:

• A clear statement (not a question) that is either true or false
• Unambiguous; no subjective interpretation
• Avoids double negatives ("Which of these is NOT correct?")
• Tests important clinical knowledge, not minor details

2.3 Language and Accessibility

• Language: Submissions should be in clear, professional English (British English preferred)
• Grammar: Free of spelling and grammatical errors
• Clarity: Avoid ambiguous pronouns, complex sentence structures, or medical jargon without context
• Inclusivity: Use gender-neutral language; ensure questions don't stereotype or discriminate
• Formatting: Use proper formatting, bullet points where appropriate, and clear labeling

2.4 Clinical Detail Standards

• Patient Demographics: Include age, sex, ethnicity (if relevant), and occupation
• Relevant History: Past medical history, medications, allergies, social history as applicable
• Examination Findings: Vital signs and physical examination findings that are clinically relevant
• Investigations: Include investigation results necessary to answer the question
• Realism: The scenario should be clinically plausible and commonly encountered

• Explain specifically what needs to be revised
• Provide feedback on medical accuracy, clarity, or format
• Ask you to resubmit with revisions
• Expedite review of your revised submission

Your submission does not meet our standards. Reasons include:

• Medical Accuracy: Information contradicts current guidelines or is outdated
• Format Issues: Doesn't fit SBA/EMQ/other required format
• Duplicate: Similar question already exists in the bank
• Low Clinical Relevance: Not commonly tested or clinically important
• Ambiguous: Wording is unclear or has multiple interpretations
• Out of Scope: Beyond Examify's current specialties or exam levels
• Originality Concern: May be adapted from published sources without clear attribution

We will provide constructive feedback and encourage resubmission with improvements.

5. Rights and Attribution

5.1 License You Grant

By submitting content, you grant Alexia Technology Sdn Bhd a:

• Worldwide license (not limited to any one country)
• Perpetual license (forever; does not expire)
• Irrevocable (you cannot revoke it later)
• Royalty-free (you are not paid per use)
• Non-exclusive (you can use the content elsewhere too)

We may:

• Publish your content on Examify
• Modify wording, formatting, or explanations to match our style
• Use it for research and educational analysis
• Include it in downloadable study packs or exports
• Incorporate feedback into improved versions

We may NOT:

• Remove your attribution without consent (unless you requested anonymity)
• Claim we wrote it (you retain authorship credit)
• Use it for commercial purposes unrelated to Examify
• Sell your individual content separately

5.2 Your Ownership

You remain the copyright holder of your original work. You can:

• Reuse the content on other platforms (consistent with Examify's license to us)
• Include it in your own teaching materials or textbooks
• Claim credit for the work
• Request your name be associated publicly with the contribution

5.3 Public Attribution

You will receive public credit including:

• Your name or chosen handle displayed with the question
• A "Contributor" badge in your user profile
• Recognition on the Examify contributors page
• Your contribution counting toward your profile credibility

Attribution Options:

• Full Name: "Contributed by Dr Sarah Chen"
• Professional Title: "Contributed by Dr S. Chen, Consultant Cardiologist"
• First Name Only: "Contributed by Sarah"
• Pseudonym: "Contributed by MedStar" (choose your handle)
• Anonymous: "Community Contribution" (no name shown)

You can update your attribution preference anytime in your account settings.

6. Intellectual Property and Warranties

6.1 Originality Warranty

By submitting content, you warrant (promise) that:

• The content is original and created by you
• You own all rights to the content
• The content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
• The content is not copied from textbooks, exam papers, or other sources without proper attribution
• You have permission to grant the license to Examify

6.2 If Your Content Is Similar to Existing Material

If your question is similar to published exam papers or textbooks, please:

• Cite the source: "Adapted from MRCS Part A Exam Question 2024, Question #156"
• Explain your changes: "I've modified the scenario and updated answers to reflect current guidelines"
• Confirm it's not word-for-word copying

We welcome questions inspired by or adapted from published sources, as long as you clearly attribute them.

6.3 Medical Accuracy Warranty

You warrant that:

• The medical information is accurate and current
• It reflects best practice in your specialty
• You have verified the correct answer against reliable sources
• You are qualified to judge medical accuracy in this area (e.g., specialist experience or supervised learning)

6.4 Liability

Examify reviews submissions for accuracy, but we rely partly on your expertise. We are not liable if:

• Your submitted content contains medical errors (we will remove it and notify you)
• Your content violates third-party intellectual property rights (you indemnify us)
• Your content causes educational or other harm (you assume responsibility)

If we discover your content is inaccurate after publication, we will:

• Contact you immediately
• Remove or correct the content
• Investigate how the error occurred
• May suspend your contributor status if patterns of inaccuracy emerge

7. If Your Submission Is Rejected

7.1 Feedback

We provide constructive feedback when rejecting submissions, including:

• Specific reason for rejection
• Examples of what would improve it
• Suggestions for resubmission
• Contact for follow-up questions

7.2 Resubmission

You are welcome to resubmit after addressing feedback:

• Revise based on our feedback
• Resubmit with a note explaining changes
• We will expedite review (typically 7 days)

7.3 Appeals

If you disagree with a rejection, you may appeal:

• Include: Your explanation of why you believe the content should be reconsidered
• Timeline: We will review within 7 days and provide a final decision

8. Contributor Community and Recognition

8.1 Contributor Profile

Published contributors receive:

• A public contributor profile listing your contributions
• Your specialty and professional title (if you choose to display it)
• A "Verified Contributor" badge if you've had multiple high-quality submissions
• Ability to showcase your contributions to employers or colleagues

8.2 Top Contributors

Examify recognizes top contributors quarterly:

• Most Submissions: Contributor with the highest number of approved questions
• Best Quality: Contributor with the highest user ratings and feedback
• Best Explanations: Contributor who adds the most valuable explanations/annotations
• Emerging Contributor: New contributor showing exceptional quality

Top contributors are featured on Examify's website and social media.

8.3 Contributor Community Forum

Coming soon: A private community forum for contributors to:

• Discuss emerging topics and exam trends
• Share best practices for question writing
• Collaborate on question banks
• Provide early feedback on platform features

9. Contributor Suspension and Content Removal

9.1 When Contributions May Be Removed

Examify may remove published content if:

• Medical Inaccuracy Discovered: Content contains errors that contradict current guidelines
• Plagiarism/IP Violation: Content infringes third-party rights or is copied without attribution
• Guideline Change: Medical guidelines update and render the content outdated
• User Complaints: Multiple users report the content as inaccurate or inappropriate
• Copyright Claim: Third party claims copyright and we cannot verify rights
• Your Request: You ask to remove your contribution

9.2 Contributor Suspension

We may suspend your contributor privileges if:

• Pattern of Inaccuracy: Multiple submissions contain factual errors
• Copyright Violations: You have submitted plagiarized or infringing content
• Harassment: You harass Examify staff or other contributors
• Terms Violation: You violate the Terms of Service
• Bad Faith Submissions: Submissions are intentionally inappropriate or offensive

Before suspension, we will:

• Contact you explaining the issue
• Give you an opportunity to respond
• Explain the suspension duration and conditions for reinstatement

10. Questions and Support

10.1 How to Get Help

10.2 Common Questions

Q: Can I submit content I co-authored with colleagues?
A: Yes, but you must have permission from all co-authors. List all authors in your submission.

Q: What if my question is rejected but I think it's good?
A: You can appeal. Email us explaining why you think it meets our standards. We'll do a final review.

Q: Will I be paid for contributions?
A: No, contributions are voluntary. Your benefit is public credit, community recognition, and supporting medical education.

Q: Can I edit my content after it's published?
A: Contact us. We can make minor corrections. Major changes require resubmission.

Q: How long do you keep rejected submissions?
A: We keep them for 90 days, then delete them (unless you request longer retention for your records).

Q: What if I want to use my question on another platform?
A: You can — the license you granted us is non-exclusive. You retain ownership.

Q: Can I request my content be removed?
A: Yes, email us with your submission reference. We will remove it, though previously cached or distributed copies may remain.
